F O R T U N A T E

This series explores the infamous fortune cookie - a popular form of iconography that pervades many areas of the world. We commonly take stock in the "wise words" given to us from these small sweets, often melding them to fit the exact moment in our lives that we swiftly crack them open. It is with this notion in mind that the body of work becomes austerely relevant.

The works boast an oversized fortune that serve to remind us of the advice we need, not necessarily that advice we want. Each piece features lucky or daily numbers that may be deciphered through the accompanying sculpture. The gold metal medium of the cookie serves as a reminder of the finite words in each piece, yet is juxtaposed by the glass bag we must all look through to find our own interpretation of the decrees.
